Today, we celebrate Coach Alex Nwora on his birthday. As he marks this special occasion, we wish him continued success and a graceful journey ahead.

With his remarkable character and promising career, Alex stands poised for an illustrious path ahead.

Prior to 2009 not much was known internationally about Coach Alex however, he played college basketball at Daemen College in the United States.

While at the college he was the all-time leading rebounder and the only player in school history to score more than 1500 points and 1000 rebounds, he remains a hall of famer there.

After college, he played with the Harlem Globetrotters abroad for a while before he started his coaching career as an assistant coach at Medaille College.

He later got appointed head coach of the men’s team at Erie Community College (NJCAA) in 1999 where he led them to six Region III titles and was named Coach of the Year eight times, amongst others feats.

Following his exploit in college basketball as coach he made his international coaching debut as Cape Verde men’s head coach (2009-14), leading them to a sixth-place finish at the 2013 AfroBasket.

He was engaged as D’Tigers head coach in 2017, where they finished second at AfroBasket.

During the 2018 FIBA World Cup qualifiers that took place in Lagos, Alex Nwora and his son Jordan Nwora became the first Nigerian father and son to represent a National team side at the same time.
