She opted to participate at the Africa Women’s Basketball League in Egypt, fully aware her wedding ceremony comes up Just four days after the tourney.

Without a doubt, Nkem played a crucial role as Nigeria Customs navigated through two out of four group stage games, earning their spot in the quarterfinals.

Despite facing a setback against Inter Clube, they secured classification wins against Overdose Up Station and Equity Bank, concluding the tournament with a 4/3 run.

Averaging a double-double at 19.4 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game, Akaraiwe showcased her prowess.

The opening game against Universite Douala saw her scoring an impressive 20 points. Despite challenges against Sporting Alexandria and Kenya Port Authority, she continued to shine with 16 and 14 points, respectively.

In the final group stage triumph against CNSS, she contributed another 20 points, and in the quarterfinal clash against Inter Clube, she added 11 more points to her tally.

Her standout performances included scoring 28 and 27 points in the classification tie against Overdose Up Station and Equity Bank.

With this captivating display, it would be unsurprising to witness Nkem Akaraiwe receiving an invitation to join the National Team for the upcoming Olympics qualifiers in Belgium next year, February.

Her journey extends beyond this, as she had previously represented the national team and secured the 2021 Afrobasket Championship with D’Tigress.
