The 2023 Propella 3×3 Basketball Competition which was hosted at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan featured 13 teams;

  • Beavers, Lagos
  • Peekay Hoopers, Ile Ife
  • The Polytechnic, Ibadan
  • Hoop Dreams, Ibadan
  • TTP Hoopers, Ibadan
  • Mama Gold Ibadan
  • Liberty Spears, Ibadan
  • UI Hoopers, Ibadan
  • Egbeda Basketball & Tourism, Ibadan
  • Raptors, Lagos
  • Raising Star, Ibadan
  • Book & Ball Academy, Osogbo
  • Showtyme, Ibadan

Since it’s inception in 2019, the competition initiated by Tunde Popoola Babatunde who is also Director of Sports and Training at the Oyo State Sports Council is aimed at getting kids off the streets while developing the game within the sub nation.

The event has over the years provided a platform for players in the state to display their skills and get scouted for higher callings.

Previous winners include;

  • 2019 – ROCK TOPPERS 
  • 2020 – MAMA GOLD 
  • 2021 – MAMA GOLD 
  • 2022 – HOOP DREAMS 

After the preliminary games, eight teams qualified for the quarter finals; Showtyme Hoopers, Liberty Spears, Hoop Dreams, Book and Ball, Mama Gold, Peekay Hoopers (Ife), Beavers (Lagos), & Raptors (Lagos).

Four teams made it through to the semi’s with Showtyme and Mama Gold advancing to the Finals.

The third place match was between last year’s winner Hoop Dreams and Beavers with the former clinching third place.

The finals classic had Mama Gold grabbing the much needed win again, thus making them 3x Winners of the Propella 3×3 competition.
